BSES Weekly Update
December 16, 2022
Principal Message
Dear Families,
For the second year in a row, the GV elementary schools are partnering with CHOP to say Yay for Pajama Day on the last day before winter break. We continue our commitment to spread kindness and build community. Please consider contributing to this worthwhile cause. Click here to donate.
Our third grade chorus gave a beautiful performance on Monday evening at GVHS. We look forward to our fourth and fifth graders performing next Monday night. Their voices and the music put us all in the holiday spirit. Kindergarten circled up for our second kindergarten morning meeting and participated in their first Sharefest. Our second-grade classes continued with lunch bunch and kindergarten.
Throughout the evenings this week, our school was turned into a holiday shop. Many of our students and families enjoyed some shopping fun, thanks to our HSA. A special shout out to Allison Ashenfelter and Karen Centrella for bringing this event to our community.
Hanukkah begins on Sunday, December 18th. We wish all of our families celebrating peace and light this holiday season.
Enjoy your weekend.
Take care.
Tara Allen & Susan Papson

Say YAY to Pajama Day!
Garnet Valley Elementary, Concord Elementary, and Bethel Springs Elementary are hosting a Pajama Day to help the kids at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP)!
Each month our faculty and staff collect donations for a charity. In December we are spreading kindness and building community by involving our students and families. Our goal represents the total number of students across our elementary schools.
Click here to consider supporting our PJ Day by making a tax-deductible donation as we say YAY to Pajama Day.

BSES Keeper of the Trail 2022-2023
We would like to thank the Spadea Family for taking care of the trail throughout this past week! Don't forget to send your family pictures when you're out there!
"Keeper of the Trail" involves signing up for a week of caring for the nature trail behind the school. You can take your walk on the Nature Trail anytime and as many times during your designated week. A checklist will be sent before your week begins to outline what you need to bring and what to do. Have fun exploring the trail with your family as your student(s) share their outdoor education experiences they’ve had during the school year!

BSES HSA Update - December 16, 2022
Get Ready for the Coin Wars at BSES
In honor of the upcoming MLK Jr. Day, our classes will compete in a charity coin drive which will benefit families of sick or injured children at The Ronald McDonald House of Delaware. All proceeds from this Coins for Kids drive will help offset the cost of a family’s stay.
From Tuesday, 1/10/23 to Thursday, 1/19/23, kids can bring in loose change, dollar bills, or even checks and place in their classroom container. Each day the top 5 classes will be announced and the class who raises the most money will win a McDonald’s lunch!! In addition to the coin drive, your children will also receive a wishlist of items the House is in need of, and items can be dropped off in the lobby the same week.
