From the District Chair
The new slate of Brazos Valley District Committee Chair and Vice Chairs as well as Members at Large was presented and approved at the April 9 Committee Meeting. An updated Organization Chart will be provided very soon. We do have some very key positions that are vacant as follows: (I have a job description for these two if you are interested)
District Membership/Relationships Chair
District Finance Chair
And we have some new positions that will need to be filled as follows:
Two positions supporting the Camping Chair: Cub Scout and Boy Scout Camping responsible for following up with Packs and Troops on their day camp, family camping, weekend, summer and winter camping activity and ensuring the units enters their data into the system for JTE credit)
Two positions supporting the Advancement Chair: Cub Scout and Boy Scout Advancement responsible for following up with Packs and Troops to ensure their Scouts are being recognized and assisting where needed in getting Training Chair to support adult needs for leaders.
We do have a new position for coordinating Girl units in both Packs and Troops and Olga Tulina has volunteered for this position. Olga will be reporting to the District Chair in this position with a dotted line support to the Membership/Relationships Chair.

COUNCIL CAMPOREE - NOVEMBER 8-10, 2019
2019 Camporee - we will celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the Longhorn Council! 100 years of Scouting in our area!
This is the Longhorn Councils 100 Anniversary and we are planning a great celebration at Texas Motor Speedway. We will have over 300 big activities for everyone, Every level of scouting is invited to come and camp Friday and Saturday night. There will be a big stag show Saturday night and cars will be running on the track inside the speedway.
All levels of programs will have events and games for their scouts and families.
Who can attend: Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Venturing, Explorers, Sea Scouts and families. Please go to the council’s web page for more information. longhorncouncil.org
Highland Games will be held at the Speedway Camporee this year registration is by unit only.
Important Training Requirement
Scout leaders that will be participating in Council Summer Camps and Day Camps must have taken Weather Hazards SCO 800 on-line class to participate.

SR2 Dedication Brick Fundraiser
The Dedication Brick Fundraiser will raise funds to replace all the Patrol Tables at Camp 10 “Gilwell” with permanent shelters that blend with the architecture of the camp. The “Dedication” bricks will ring each table. Click here for to see the Brick Project or to Buy a Brick.
