The "differences" between and and and...

The 2 words "y" and "e" both signify "and" in Spanish. The distinction between them is simply pronunciation and flow...

1. Use "y" as you've always been accustomed, EXCEPT if the conjunction is followed by a word that begins "i" or "hi"...listen to the "conflict"
a. Hablo español y inglés... or would it sound better
b. Hablo español e inglés...

Or...should you use or or or?

a. Use "o" as you've done in the past, except if IT as the conjunction is followed by a word beginning "o" or "ho".. again, avoiding the conflict.
b. Tengo siete o ocho amigos en Cuba... or would this sound better...
2. Tengo siete u ocho amigos allí, nunca me acuerdo.
