Transition from junior high to high school can be a big change. We would like to invite all the Class of 2026 to come to our new Houn Dawg Freshmen Academy on August 18th from 8:30 - 11:30 am. Students will have the opportunity to check out their Chromebook, meet their teachers while walking through their schedules, practice opening their lockers, and enjoy snacks during their 'lunch shift'. Check out the details below and we hope to you see you for our first Houn Dawg Freshmen Academy!

Students should plan to arrive at 8:30 am at the front entrance of the high school. Upon arrival, students will be able to pick up their course schedules, check out their Chromebook, and explore options for clubs and organizations at AHS. Please make sure to bring the $10 fee to check out a Chromebook!

To start the morning, students will be divided into breakout groups which include a Technology Bootcamp, Building Tours, AHS Expectations, and Counseling Office information.

• 8:30 - 9:00: Arrival time
• 9:00: Welcome & Break out groups
• 10:30: Schedule walk through
• 11:25: Closing & Dismissal

Schedule walk through:

Students will have the opportunity to practice moving from class to class following their assigned schedules. This is also a time to meet their teachers.

• 10:30 - Travel to 1st hour
• 10:34 - 1st Hour Begins
• 10:37 - 1st Hour Dismissal
• 10:41 - 2nd Hour Begins
• 10:43 - 2nd Hour Dismissal
• 10:47 - 3rd Hour Begins
• 10:50 - 3rd Hour Dismissal
• 10:54 - 4th Hour Begins/1st Lunch goes to cafeteria
• 10:58 - 1st Lunch goes to 4th hour class / 2nd Lunch goes to cafeteria
• 11:02 - 1st Lunch stays in 4th hour class / 2nd Lunch goes back to 4th hour / 3rd Lunch goes to cafeteria.
