Hall Closing Information
The halls will close at 10:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 22, 2014. ALL residents need to be aware that they must be out of the hall by this time.
Residents who are unable to leave may complete a Stay Late form, but permission is granted only if:
- the student or sibling of the student is graduating (you cannot stay for a friend’s graduation)
- the student is in band or choir
- the student is assisting campus ministry with baccalaureate
- the student is directly involved with the commencement ceremony
- the student is a member of a team with an upcoming competition
- the student is in a Loras theater production
- the student is a dining service employee
- the student is moving to summer housing

Finals Week Quiet Hours!
Academic Hours begin at 12 midnight on Friday, May 15, and continue through 10:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 21. Doors should be kept closed and hallway conversations to a whisper during this time. Social hours (not to be confused with loud hours) are from 4:00—6:00 p.m. daily. Violations of the academic hour policy may result in a fine and/or immediate removal from your residence hall. Please avoid this situation by respecting academic hour guidelines.

Preparing for Checkout!
All residents need to schedule a check out time at the hall office (located on the bulletin board by the office or in the office). Each checkout takes approximately 15 minutes, and only those with permission to stay late may check out after 9:45 p.m. on Thursday, May 21.
Cleaning supplies are located in each of the housekeeping closets for residents to clean their rooms properly.
All residents need to sign up for a checkout time no later than 6:00 pm on Saturday, May 16. Failure to do so may result in a fine of $25 per day. The bulletin board to sign up for a checkout time will be ready by Monday, May 11th .
Residents should complete the all required tasks prior to checking out of their room. Please remember that you may be fined for improper checkout if you fail to complete items on this list. Residents should:
- Remove all belongings from room and hall
- Sweep and mop floor (including under bed), and clean hallway outside of room
- Remove all stickers, sticky tack, tape, from all college property
- Clean both sides of the door, sink, mirror, and medicine cabinet
- Move all furniture to original position (unstack dressers, pull beds away from walls, leave drawers open, etc.)
- Dust everything
- Throw all garbage in dumpster or designated areas
- Close and lock windows, close blinds, and shut off lights
- Return all keys to staff members/health center
- Complete all paperwork

Event Information
Bedloft Return!
All bedlofts will be collected by the bedloft company on Saturday, May 16. Students on lower campus may return their lofts at the Beckman Hall Parking lot between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Students on upper campus may return their lofts at the Rohlman Hall Parking Lot between 3 - 4 p.m. All lofts must be returned by 4:00 p.m. on May 16. If you are concerned about how to fit your personal items in your room once your loft has been removed, please see the Residence Life Staff in your building for assistance.

Elevators Will Be Turned On May 11!
Residents are able to use the elevator to move out. Please remember that many other people may use the elevator during the days/times people are not moving out. Proper etiquette is to put all belongings by the elevator and when everything is ready to go, then load the elevator. Propping the elevator door can be damaging and will not be permitted. Elevators will be turned on for student use on Monday, May 11. Damage to the elevator may result in the elevator being turned off. Please note that the elevators should not be used to transport bedlofts.
Trash and Recycling
Please be sure to properly dispose of or recycle your trash when checking out of college housing. Large items such as couches, carpets, lumber, etc. should be disposed of in the dumpster provided outside the building. Large items should not be left in hallways, on loading docks, or in bathrooms. Dumpsters for large item disposal will arrive on May 11. Recycling bins are provided in all housing items. If you have a large amount of recycling, please contact your RA for specific instructions for your hall.
