SMS Raider Family,
Happy New Year Raiders!
I hope this letter finds you well and ready for a fantastic 2019. Our hope is that you and your families were able to spend some quality time together over the break.
I wanted to do a quick follow up to something that I brought to your attention in the last newsletter. As of this past Monday, Mrs. Dlabaj has now officially started in her new position at SES. Thus, we are were in need of an interim assistant principal here at SMS. We found someone that has the needed qualifications for the position, Mr. Ryon Thompson. He has previous interim administrative experience, is currently a behavior specialist here in SISD, and has been an inclusion and math teacher at the secondary level. He knows many of our students already and it will be a smooth transition for him to move into this new position. He looks forward to working with you and our wonderful SMS Raider families.
As we gear up for the third quarter, please remember to stay plugged in to what is happening at SMS. A great way to do this is to have the Sunnyvale ISD app on your phones and to be signed up for the parent portal for your student/s grades, attendance and other alerts. We are also active on our SMS Facebook and Twitter pages. So stay tuned for many amazing things coming up at SMS.
Have a great week! And as always...Go Raiders!

We are starting to see an increase in tardies. Please remember that the tardy bell rings at 7:50 am. This means students must be in their classrooms at this time. If they are not, they will be marked tardy. If tardies build, students can receive detentions and possible may have to attend Saturday school to recover the amount of time lost.
We look forward to seeing your students every day! See you all in the morning!
