Thank Our Custodians Day
On March 22nd our VPHS Kindness Club hosted VP's 2nd Annual Thank Our Custodians Day. The Kindness Club wanted to recognize people on our campus that don't always get the recognition that they deserve for all of their hard work. They came up with a plan. The club created small think you notes that they distributed to various teachers on campus to have their students write. They made posters for the occasion with all of the custodians names to be hung around campus. They involved other clubs and organizations on campus such as, Link Crew, ASB, and Spanish Club to help with making the posters. Mrs. Deuning took up a monetary collection from the staff to buy Amazon gift cards for each custodian. The club made gift bags. They asked for food donations from the staff to host a luncheon. Both Mrs. Deuning (the Kindness Club Advisor) and Mr. McCuistion said a few words to show their appreciation. Mr. Corbett had the band play a few songs. Staff and students came out to show their support to these hard working men and women. Yearbook staff was on hand to take pictures for the yearbook.

The competition brought together four middle schools from the Orange Unified School District, each bringing their top five Super Smash Bros players to compete for the title of the best player in the district. The tournament was a huge success, with players showcasing their skills and strategies in nail-biting matches. The atmosphere was intense, and the excitement was visible as the players and spectators cheered on their respective schools. The VPHSESPORTS, link crew, and Education Technology team worked tirelessly to ensure that the tournament was a smooth and seamless experience for everyone involved. In the end, one player from Santiago Charter emerged victorious, securing the title of the best Super Smash Bros player in the Orange Unified School District Middle School Division. The Smash Open tournament was a great way to bring students together and promote healthy competition and camaraderie among them.

The competition was held on the Egg Cup track, and the four contestants battled it out in a neck-to-neck race. In the end, Mr. Troge emerged as the ultimate winner, crossing the finish line first and securing the coveted title of the Educators Cup champion. The tournament was a great way for teachers to bond and network while enjoying a fun and competitive environment.
