The History Behind Taj Mahal

The indian ruler, Shah Jahan ordered the Taj Mahal built in memory of his wife. About 20,000 workers built the tomb between about 1630 and 1650. The bodies of Shah Jahan and his wife is buried under the building. Shah Jahan was ordering another taj mahal to be built but before he could start his son put him in prison.

The Structure of the Taj Mahal

Shah Jahan spent $20,000 US on the materials just to build the garden in the front and he spent $40,000 on the building. The materials he used were marble, red sandstone, iron, gold, diamonds.

Why Did Shah Jahan's own Son Put him in prison ?

His son didn't like how he was forcing people to do work without a notice. He did not know why Shah would do that and he took advantage of that he had every right to put him in prison

The Building

The square measuring 15186 feet. It stands at one end of the garden adorned. There are many fountains to make it beautiful. Many things have been added to it over the years because of celebration or big events. Famous indian actors are well known for donating money. The actor that have given the most money to the building is Shahrukh Khan.

Over 1,000,000 people go to visit there every year. The Taj Mahal is one of the most wonderful tourism destinations in India and is aptly considered one of the greatest wonders of the world. People all over the world desire to see the grandeur of the Taj Mahal and only a lucky few get to see this wonder in marble. The Taj Mahal signifies and glorifies human love, has withstood the test of time, and still stands in all its glory. Emperor Shahjahan has firmly put Agra on the travel and tourism map of the world.
