Mr. Budisch's Bright Lights
I hope you are seeing and hearing good things about school!
Students reading and writing
Below are photos of children engaged in the writing or reading process we call the workshop. I was very impressed, as I visited each classroom this past Thursday, to see the children at work, with pencil in hand or with attention to the teachers. Builiding stamina to read and write was a focus of the lessons as I moved from 4k-grade 4. Maybe you can ask your children how long they have been reading or writing in class.
Getting down to labeling my sketch
I can't wait to get going!
Adding suspense to the story.
Our first Assembly
https://docs.google.com/a/merton.k12.wi.us/presentation/d/1hrbP7kKCTg1ndfKTgpqQxbJtcK6haKfsaOtv6GX6p0w/edit?usp=sharing Here is a link to the presentation I had for the children at our first assembly of the year. The focus was on being the best Mustang you can be. Each child is unique and we talked about the difference each child can make here at school. I hope the kids can talk a little bit about it with you.
Here is what a writng model looks like in first grade
As our teachers "launch" the writers' workshop, the children might see models of writing. Here Mr. Heinze did some writing on the smartboard for the kids to read and discuss. They will then use the ideas from the "mini-lesson" to do their own writing.
They're Back-Culver's Night!
Please join us at the Culver's off of Hwy 83 in Hartland, September 16th. Part of the proceeds go to ouor PTO for staff and student grants. There might be a staff member who will serve you your food. Culver's is an outstanding supporter of Merton Schools and your partonage is appreciated.
Principals' Chat was a good time!
Thanks to our PTO for sponsoring the Principals' Chat yesterday. We had a really nice turn out of moms and dads (over 40) to hear Jay and me talk about various topics in our schools. Jay will be having a book talk about "Beyond the Bake Sale". Please call him if you would like a book, 538-1130.
Box Tops-Golf Outing-Barn Bash (Sept. 19th)
Remember to keep cutting out the box tops-I keep finding them on all kinds of products. This is a fundraiser that really is helpful to our schools. Speaking of helping our schools, especially the Primary Gym renovation, please consider attending the golf scramble and Barn Bash at the Ironwood Golf Course. Please contact cathyjames59@aol.com. We hope to see you there.
Mike Budisch, head learner
Please take a moment to read our information that comes to you from our school. In doing so, you will be in the know on a regular basis and the news will make more sense as we move through the year. Thanks so much, Mike
