Discovery and a Passion for Excellence
February 2023
Dazzled by Discovery; Excited by Exploration
Welcome to another year of Discovery!
We Have Been Immersed in Challenge!
Fifth Grade Space Cadets!
This research is the springboard teams use to imagine life in the year 2223. Their settings may be underground lava tubes on Mars, floating space colonies, underwater dwellings, mile high megastructures, clouds of Venus--the options are only limited by their research and their imagination. Students are honing many skills, not the least of which is ownership of their learning and accountability to a team. Final plays will be recorded and "Space-cademy" Awards will be awarded in a variety of categories. Possibilities include best research, cinematography, storyline, costumes and props, special effects, and teamwork.
Learn more about the experience by engaging your fifth grader in sharing some team visions. Ask challenging questions that will help them clarify and add spice to their storylines. Thank you!
Fourth Grade Jabberwocky Parodies and Student TED Talks
TED Student Talks
At present we are beginning our research. We will progress to speech writing that includes a powerful opening, perspective, tension to keep the audience involved, and a conclusion that emphasized the throughline message.
An ideal throughline formula to keep in mind is:
We can (do X) in order to (change Y) so we can (create Z).
We are only at the beginning of this real-world project. I am always thrilled by the results.
