STANDOUT COYOTES

COYOTE MARCHING REGIMENT

On January 19, several students from CHS participated in the AMEA Solo and Ensemble Festival. This festival is for students to prepare music independent of the music we learn in band class. Ezekiel Hawkins, Caroline Wu, and Claire Nugent achieved a rating of Excellent, while Nicholas McInnes (pictured right) achieved a rating of SUPERIOR, which advances him to the second round of this festival!

On January 26, 17 students auditioned for the AMEA Central Region Band, and three made the ensemble! When you see them, please congratulate Ezekiel Hawkins, Caroline Wu, and Stephanie Barrett! They will play with other students in the regional band or orchestra on February 16 at Mountain View HS.

AASC

CHS Student Council attended the Arizona Association of Student Council (AASC) State Convention January 24-26th. They networked with all the Student Councils in the state of Arizona on how to promote school spirit, heard from national keynote speakers and engaged in meaningful workshops.

COUNSELORS CORNER

Counselors wrapped up registration this week and met with almost every single Freshman, Sophomore, and Junior on a one on one basis. We had a great time talking with the students and helping them understand their transcripts and their course choices and we are getting excited for next year! If your child did not meet with a counselor, please let us know so that we can reach out to them.

The ACT test will be offered on campus on February 20. This is for Juniors only and is offered at a cost of $24.50 which is a $20 savings over the regular cost of the test. Juniors can sign up in the counseling office for the ACT and pay their fee to the bookstore. For Juniors and Seniors who want to take the SAT, it will be offered here at CHS on Saturday, March 9, and Saturday, May 4. Students need to go to www.collegeboard.org to sign up and pay the fee.

Also coming soon is the College and Career fair on Tuesday, March 19. Several colleges, the military, and private businesses will be on hand to provide information and answer questions. We hope you can make it!
