Cardinal Parents, Students, and Staff:
"Treat yourself like someone you are responsible for helping."
We usually have great advice to offer those we care about or love. On the contrary, we're often the toughest critics on ourselves. When you're struggling with a problem or an obstacle, try to step back from yourself and think about what advice you'd give a friend or a loved one who was in a similar situation. Then, give yourself that same advice and follow it.
Let's do this! Cardinal Strong!
- Oct 10: Do you like surprises? Why or why not?
- Oct 11: What is your typical evening routine?
- Oct 12: Which appeals to you more: Hawaii or Alaska?
- Oct 13: What would you do if you won $1 million in the lottery?
- Oct 14: If you could go back in time, what year would you travel to? Why?
Hey, Seniors!
- Are you interested in attending PLU, Saint Martins, or Northwestern University? Act Six will award 18 of Tacoma-Seattle’s most promising urban leaders’ full scholarships worth up to $245,000. Mark your calendars to make sure that you get you attend. Questions? See Ms. Brown in the CCC.
Apply Now for 2023-24 Financial Aid
A family of four making up to $107,000 may be eligible for aid.
Students who plan to start college next fall can now apply for financial aid for the 2023-24 school year. Education beyond high school is more important than ever. Applying for financial aid gives you more options for the future.
In Washington, there are two ways to apply for financial aid:
- Most people should complete a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). The FAFSA is used by U.S. citizens and eligible non-citizens to apply for both state and federal financial aid.
- The WASFA (Washington Application for State Financial Aid) is an application for state financial aid only. The WASFA is for people who are undocumented or who do not qualify for federal aid because of their immigration status, and can be used in limited circumstances by others who cannot or choose not to file a FAFSA.
Applying for financial aid is a crucial first step toward college or job training. Many families assume they won’t qualify, but there’s more help available than ever before. This year, a family of four making up to $107,000 can qualify for financial aid in Washington. The only way to know for sure if you’re eligible is to apply.
Learn more, get support, and apply for financial aid at wsac.wa.gov/apply.

Hey, Cards!
- Homecoming will be here in just a few weeks. Tickets for Homecoming may be purchased from the bookkeeper. If you plan to bring a guest, be sure to pick up a Guest Form from the main office. You will not be able to purchase your guest’s ticket until the form is completed and approved.
Attention Athletes! There is no supervision for you after school on early release days. You are NOT allowed to hang out after school while waiting for your practice or game to start. You need to leave campus after school and then return for your practice or game at the designated time — when you have supervision from your coaches.

Daily Bell Schedules
NEW Performing Arts Center!
We are very excited about our new Performance Arts Center! We are in eager anticipation of the day that we can fully showcase the talents of our band, orchestra, choir, drama programs, and so much more!
- Part of the "cost" for a new Performing Arts Center is going to be a little dust, a lot of change, and even a few inconveniences. Please, bear with us as we work through the "under construction" phase with an estimated completion date of the start of the 2023-24 school year.
- Student and Staff Parking: All staff and students must park together in the parking lot alongside 112th St. The section nearest the tennis courts is reserved for staff parking. The section nearest the stadium is reserved for student parking. Students and staff must drive all the way around the school to access the new student/staff parking lot. Please, do not cut through the drop-off and pick-up zone to park.
- AM student drop-off and PM student pick-up and zones. Please, do not park in the drop-off and pick-up zones between 7:30am and 3pm. The drop-off and pick-up zones will be the same for 2022-23 as they were for the end of 2021-22.
- Main Entrance: The former main entrance to the building is no longer accessible. The new main entrance is on the south end of the main building near the student pick-up and drop-off zone.
- Handicapped Parking has been relocated to the stalls in the drop-off zone nearest the new main entrance.
- Bicycle Parking has been relocated to the 1400 building (outside the band classroom).
- Pedestrians in the drop-off and pick-up zone should use the pedestrian walkway along the fence line.
- As with all construction projects, almost everything is subject to change. We appreciate your patience and understanding.
