IMPORTANCE OF MASKS and COVID Update
The District launched a new central location for COVID-related information for all district families. The new hub includes updated responses to the Frequently Asked Questions in addition to clear definitions and scenarios for contact tracing, quarantine, and isolation.
When it comes to quarantining close contact students, the District will still recommend a 14 day quarantine. Rock Hill Schools will allow students to opt for a 10-day quarantine if that student properly wears a mask and makes every effort to physically distance when back on campus for days 11-14. The 10-day option is only applicable if no symptoms are being experienced by that student.
It is our goal to keep students in school much as possible but we cannot do this alone. We are hoping each and every one of you will send your child to school with a mask on. Please work with your student to recognize how far away three to six feet is. And if your child is eligible, talk to a health professional about getting vaccinated.
Below are some scenarios that clearly show how wearing a mask can keep your child in school. If everyone is masked and one student tests positive, only the positive student is isolated.
Please don't hesitate to call us with any questions you may have.
NATIONAL BLUE RIBBON SCHOOL OF EXCELLENCE
India Hook is starting the process to become a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence. You can find more information about it through the link below.
There are nine different performance categories we will be assessed on. Each week I will highlight a different performance category.
PERFORMANCE CATEGORY: PROFESSIONAL COMMUNITY:
- The school recognizes the vital role continuous professional development plays in achieving the school’s mission.
- The school has developed a culture that encourages teachers, administrators, and school staff to work together as members of a professional community, supporting each other in the improvement of student learning.
- Professional growth and development, both inside and outside the school walls, are continuous and thoughtfully planned, based on analysis of data on student and faculty needs, and are integrated into new school initiatives and/or changes in curriculum.
- Formal and informal support is provided to beginning and experience teachers.
- Staff members are given opportunities for leadership and recognition.
- Finally, teachers, administrators, and support staff are provided with the time and opportunity to reflect on what is working and to change what is no longer effective.
From a former principal and NBRSE assessor:
“What are teachers doing to collaborate? What are teachers doing to stay on top of their game? What are they doing to help their students being successful? The best schools have ROBUST PD for their teachers. The teachers are just as much a learner as the students. Teachers need to be willing to learn and develop themselves and not have a fixed mindset on teaching. “We are the average of the 5 people we spend the most time with.”-Jim Rohn. What are we doing to drive our average up?”
ARRIVAL AND DISMISSAL
Morning Drop Off
We will have Safety Patrol helping us unload students. Please make sure your child is ready to get out of the car as you pull up. Students should exit from the right side of the car if possible.
We are working on fostering independence in our students and discourage you walking your child into the building. However, please use the left lane and pull into our parking lot if you are still needing to do this for a few more days.
Afternoon Pick Up
Please have your "Car Rider" tag visible in your windshield so we may call your child's name. Stay consistent with the side you pick up on for familiarity and ease for your child.
Change in Transportation
If you have a change in transportation for your student, please notify the office in writing on the day of the change.
A Message from the Transportation Department
Information about Bus Transportation can be found at:
Issues with E-link and the MyStop shoudl be resolved. If you continue to have questions please contact transportation by emailing them to: firstname.lastname@example.org
Please remind your student the importance of following the rules of the bus at all times. The safe transportation to and from school of all of our students is our highest priority.
PAINT OUR ROCKS!
Our fantastic PTO has purchased a rock at the front and back of the building so YOU can have an opportunity to paint them. It is only a $10 donation to the PTO to paint the rock.
Sign up for your date(s) using the links below - this will take you to a "Sign Up Genius". (The calendar in the Sign Up Genius only populates a certain number of days. The remaining days of the school year will be available in November.)
