A Message from Principal Choquette 5/4/18
Good afternoon. Spring is finally here and the kids are so excited to have some warmer weather. I love watching them play and enjoy the outdoors.
Next week is teacher appreciation week. I'd like to take a moment to thank all of our teachers at Bridge Street School. This year was a difficult year, starting something new is always a challenge, but they worked hard through it all. I am so proud of all of them, and the way that they persevered to provide an even more inclusive learning environment for our students. Our teachers are dedicated to their students and their school. I have never been part of a school where the teachers all, truly, get along. They are supportive of each other, they stand up for each other, and they care for each other. They treat each other with respect and honor each other's differences. They are the same way with their students. I am so appreciative of each and every one of them. So when you see a teacher next week, please give them a hug and a huge thank you for everything that they do. Thank you to the BSS teachers!
I'd also like to recognize that today is National School Lunch Hero Day and thank our dedicated workers in the kitchen. Everyday you serve our students, you never let a child go hungry, and for that I am thankful.
Finally, Nurses Day is on Wednesday, May 9th. I'd like to thank Nurse Jessica for the care that she gives to our students. From a scratched knee to a broken arm to emotional support, you are always there for our students. You make them smile when there are tears, you make them feel better when there is pain, you love them while they wait for a parent/guardian to pick them up. You are the best Nurse Jessica....thank you!
Don't forget the annual Pride Parade is taking place tomorrow, Saturday, May 5th! All Northampton Public School families are invited to participate by walking behind the NHS float! We are looking for families to join in the parade and carry the BSS banner. The parade starts at 11:00 a.m., and BSS marchers will meet at 10:30 in the parking lot across from the Northampton Brewery. Please email Stephanie at spouliot2009@gmail.com if you would like to represent our amazing and diverse BSS community in the parade.
I wish that I could be at the parade tomorrow, however, I have another engagement that I need to be at. I will be there in spirit marching right along with all of you.
Finally, a huge thank you to Stephanie Pouliot and the PTO for helping to roll out our new walking school bus stop at Sheldon Field. Walk to school day was awesome. Thank you so much to all of our WSB drivers and to everyone who keeps it up and going every morning. Let's keep the momentum going....get out and walk to school. Be healthy and be good to the environment.
Have a wonderful weekend!
