Narcissus and Echo
Story
Zeus who is King of the Olympic Gods is cheating on his wife Hera with mountain Nymphs. Echo is a pretty Nymph who talks a lot and she is used to distract Hera so she won't found out her husband is cheating. Hera eventually found out Zeus was cheating but she couldn't do anything because her husband was too powerful. She decided to take her anger out on Echo for distracting her. Hera takes Echo's voice away and Echo is only allowed to reply with someone else's shouted words. Narcissus is another mountain Nymph who is the son of a blue Nymph called Leiriope. One day Narcissus is hunting in the woods and Echo spots and falls in love with him. Echo follows Narcissus until one day she reveals herself and her love to him. Narcissus rejects Echo's love and Echo becomes devastated. Echo runs away and spent the remainder of her life wandering in lonely glens. Artemis, the goddess of hunt, didn't like how Narcissus rejected everyone's love so she caused Narcissus to fall love but the kind of love that will never be fulfilled. One day Narcissus was tired from hunting and decided to rest by a spring. He looks at the spring and a new thirst grows inside him. He becomes in love with himself and spends all his life staring at himself through the spring and echos the manner just like Echo did earlier. His body eventually withers away and in his place is a narcissus flower and if you go to any riverbank you can find this flower.
