Welcome to the Prairie Point Panther Press!
News from the LRC
Off the Shelves: News from the LRC.
Last week local author Jeffrey Brown gave a presentation to our fourth and fifth graders. He talked about his writing and drawing processes. We will have copies of his books (unsigned) available for purchase through the first week of May. Order forms are in the LRC. Our thanks to Scholastic Books for this opportunity.
Thank you to those who donated books to our Used Book Sale. Half of the funds received were donated to the "Celebrate Differences" organization, and the remainder will be used to purchase more materials for the LRC.
Thank you to Lindy Donavon and Lily Hattrem who each donated a book to our LRC in celebration of their birthdays.
Our Spring Book Fair will be held the first week of May. We need volunteers to help with this, so if you can give us a couple hours of your time, please sign up at the Sign-Up Genius website using this link:

Future Traughber Families
Future Traughber Families:
It’s hard to believe that it is time to start preparing our fifth grade students for their transition to sixth grade! All fifth grade students who will be going to Traughber next year will be attending our annual Step-Up Day on Wednesday, April 19 during the school day. They will learn more about what Traughber has to offer and how to prepare for a successful transition. They will also be given guided tours of the building.
We would like to invite all of our future Traughber families to attend our Step-Up evening on Wednesday, April 19 from 6:30-8:00 PM. We will start off with a brief welcome in the gym and then families will attend brief informational sessions on a variety of topics aimed at helping prepare our students for transition to junior high.
We are looking forward to welcoming our new sixth grade class and working in partnership with our families to ensure a successful transition. If you have any questions, please contact Traughber at 630-636-2700.
Sincerely,
Tarah Fowler

Home & School President's Letter
April showers bring May flowers . . . Well the way this month has begun, we should have amazing yards in a few weeks! I hope everyone had a restful and relaxing spring break. It’s hard to believe we are in the final stretches of the school year.
During the month of March, we held our annual Variety Show. It’s so wonderful watching our students perform for family and friends. Thank you to the committee for planning a fun evening. Father’s Forum held Mornings with Mom and it was a huge turnout and a nice way to start a Friday morning.
You may have seen a yellow flyer come home before spring break regarding our next MCC (Most Caring Classroom) project. Our Community Outreach committee, along with the Student Leadership Team and Brownie Troop #1500, are assembling backpacks filled with donated items for children entering foster care. This is such an important cause and we hope you are able to help. The flyer listing needed items is in the Panther Press.
In a few weeks, we will host one of the most beloved events, the Daddy/Daughter Dance. The flyer came home in Thursday folders. And soon we will begin asking for volunteers for Field Day, May 18th. Please be on the look out for more information.
We are in need of chairpersons for Beautification, the Marquee, PAWWS and Rewards. We also need someone to take over the role of Penny the Panther at a few events throughout the year. We are looking for co-chairpersons to help with Appreciation, Health and Wellness and the Panther Fitness Challenge. All committee descriptions can be found at the beginning of the school directory. Please reach out to any of us on the board, or email us at homeandschoolprairiepoint@gmail.com if you have any questions and/or want more information.
Lastly, I would like to announce our Home & School board for the 2017-18 school year:
Vice President - Kim Tully
Correspondence Secretary – Beth Kremer
Recording Secretary – Katie Brom
Treasurer – Katie Lund
And I will be staying on one final year as president. We look forward to planning for next year and are open to any suggestions and new ideas.
Happy April!
