June 2019 Newsletter
A Note from the Principal
Dear Wade King Families,
It is hard to believe there are just 10 days of school left!
Your children have accomplished some amazing things this year. As our year ends, I hope you will take time to reflect on those accomplishments and celebrate them. Attending your child's Portfolio Celebration will provide you with an opportunity to do this as you look at his/her work from this year and past years. I also invite you to join us for our End of Year Celebration on the last day of school from 8:10-9:10 am. During this celebration, our school community will celebrate the things we have done together and say good-bye to our 5th graders and to staff who will be leaving us.
Here's to a great last few days of school!

Gold Acorn... Awarded to Taylor Conot!
We are so happy to share with you that Taylor Connot is this year’s recipient of the Golden Acorn Award! The Golden Acorn is a very prestigious Washington State PTA award that is given out by local PTAs/PTSAs for exemplary and outstanding volunteerism and service to PTA. Taylor was awarded a certificate and a Golden Acorn pin, and her name has been placed on the Golden Acorn plaque, which hangs in our school. A Washington state PTA scholarship to benefit students will also be given in Taylor’s name.
Taylor Connot is one of those quiet worker-bees who is working in the background over the course of several years to ensure our students have quality and relevant enrichment, especially surrounding our World Tour locations. Taylor finds resources from all over this part of WA to provide cultural presentations, music, art, theater and dance performances for our World Tour event and in classrooms throughout the year. From professional storytellers during lunch to cultural trunk displays, Taylor has found ways to incorporate international studies with our IB program. Taylor is committed to seeing the World Tour as not just an annual celebration, but an opportunity to embrace learning throughout the school year, expanding the understanding of our students about their global neighbors.
Thank you, Taylor, for all your diligent work and support of our IB program and our Wade King community! You have a wonderful, giving heart and you are a pleasure to work with. We appreciate all that you do for our school.
