Grades
Humble ISD has extended the third 9-week grading period through March 27. Teachers are encouraged to work with students during this extension period to help them complete those assignments issued prior to the Spring Break (March 7-15.) holiday.
Students will not receive any new assignments the week of March 16-20 that will be graded. Assignments issued the last week of the extended marking period March 23-27 will not negatively impact a student's grades.
We are currently working on the plan for the final 9-week grading period of the semester.

Self Care Resources
Separate what is in your control from what is not. There are things you can do, and it’s helpful to focus on those. Wash your hands. Remind others to wash theirs. Take your vitamins. Limit your consumption of news.
Do what helps you feel a sense of safety. This will be different for everyone, and it’s important not to compare yourself to others.
Challenge yourself to stay in the present. When you find yourself worrying about something that hasn’t happened, gently bring yourself back to the present moment. Engaging in mindfulness activities is one way to help stay grounded when things feel beyond your control.
Stay connected and reach out if you need more support. Talk to trusted friends about what you are feeling. You don’t have to be alone with your worry and it can be comforting to share what you are experiencing with those trained to help.RELA News
Students will be working in Lesson 4, and will read the poem "After the Hurricane". They will analyze the effects of structure and meter within the poem, and explain how the authors use of figurative language contributes to the overall meaning.

7th Grade Texas History - This week our students will continue their exciting journey into Texas History through Google Classroom. Our next unit will focus on the seven principles of government, comparing the United States Constitution and the Texas State Constitution. Students will complete an activity identifying different statements that illustrate each principle of government. They will also begin working on creating their very own primary source. Students will document their experience of our current situation we are all living in at the moment. Students will add their own personal touches thru different means whether it be through a journal, pictures, video, blog, and/or many other options available for them to choose from. All materials, activities, and assignments can be found in Google Classroom.
8th Grade U.S. History- will continue to assist our students with their education through digital resources and access to teachers. For the next couple of weeks we as a team are going to upload to Google Classroom review assignments together to continue their knowledge of US History. Students will also have access to a teacher created website, also located in your student’s google classroom. This website is geared more towards student’s verbiage and accessibility at this time.
The review assignments are not being taken for a grade at this time as well.
Also, as a team we will make alternative activities available for those students who need to retest or makeup a missing exam. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact your teacher.
Math News
The math department has been working hard, collaborating from home to provide all students with engaging learning opportunities. This coming week all grade levels will be posting assignments/activities/videos which will review our most recent teaching. For any students that were struggling with concepts on any grade level's most recent test there will also be an option for re-testing online. Please be patient as this comes to your students from their individual teachers. The goal of this next week is to close out the third nine-weeks and review topics. Please encourage your student to login and be engaged in these learning activities regardless of their need to re-test. This is a great time to get acclimated to our new "normal"!
In the coming weeks continued learning will become better and better as we continue to find new tools and activities for students. It is extremely important students continue working as math depends on the foundation from each year and we want ALL our students to be ready for the 2020-21 school year! The skills from each grade always play such an important part for the next year so keep at it Lions! #BeElite
