St Anthony's School News
Term 1: 2nd March 2023

Week 5 - Thursday 25th May 2023
Acknowledgement of Country
St Anthony’s School acknowledges Australia's Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, the traditional custodians of lands, waterways and skies across Australia.
We thank you for sharing and caring for the land we learn and play on.
We pay our respects to Elders, and we share our friendship and kindness.
Our Vision Statement
St Anthony's School community works collaboratively to teach and live the values of Christ. While respecting tradition, and to meet the demands of a rapidly changing society, it strives to educate our children to their full potential.
Message from the Principal
This week the Church marks the feast of Pentecost which announces the time of the Church. In some circles it is referred to as the Church’s birthday. Following Jesus’ ascension and return to his rightful place at the right hand of God, the Father, the disciples gathered together unsure of how to proceed. Jesus had promised to send the Spirit. The Spirit gave them the courage to continue Jesus' work among the people.
How fitting it is that our Year 6 students receive the gifts of the Spirit in the sacrament of Confirmation this coming weekend. The Spirit is not only sent to help them and us to live the life of Christ in the world, it also allows us to speak in ways that makes sense to our world. The apostles spoke and the people began to hear words in their own tongue, in language that was understandable. The Spirit is still at work in the world today, and it is in the Spirit that people will hear words, see actions and experience people of character in ways that are worth listening to, that draws out interest and that sparks hearts into life.
Please keep our Confirmation candidates in your thoughts and prayers this weekend.
Complaints and Disputes
At the end of each Kindy interview there are four areas that I speak directly to with prospective parents.
The first is that the Catholic Ethos, our way of living like Jesus, is central to all we do and say at St Anthony’s School. This is spelt out further in our PADUA Values and our St Anthony’s Way for staff, students and community members.
The second is School Policies, a number of which can be found on the school’s website.
The next is the school’s Code of Conduct – twelve principles that describe minimum standards of behaviour and decision making to ensure the safety and well-being of students and all members of our community.
The final area is that of Dealing with a Dispute or Complaint. In discussing this with parents I explain that if there is a concern or a question, the first step is to speak with their child’s teacher. Teachers are unable to address issues if they are not discussed with them if an issue arises. The best way to contact a teacher is via email. Teachers will endeavour to respond to your email within 48 hours and set up a mutually agreeable time to meet and discuss your concerns or they may have a quick chat if they see you before or after school. Discussing concerns face-to-face is the best way to listen to each other and work out possible solutions.
Catholic Education WA’s Disputes and Complaints Policy makes it clear that all issues of dispute or complaint must be addressed in the first instance at the school level. Voicing anger or frustration over school issues on Facebook, Instagram or other social media platforms, does not give the school the opportunity hear and resolve the issue, nor does it support our Catholic Ethos and our core PADUA Values. In some circumstances such communication may place the author at risk of committing a libellous offence.
God Bless

In line with our school policy, all medications are to be brought into and collected from the school office. No students are to handle medications or keep medication in their school bags.

The St Anthony's Way
Connects with the Community and Parish
This weekend, we celebrate the long-awaited Confirmation ceremony for our students. As we commemorate this milestone, it's essential to reflect on the importance of connecting our school community with our parish. Here's why, at St Anthony’s we believe this bond is significant:
- Faith Formation: By engaging with the parish, we deepen our students' understanding of faith, helping them develop a personal relationship with God.
- Role Models and Mentors: Priests, religious sisters and parishioners serve as inspiring role models, guiding our students on their spiritual journey.
- Service and Outreach: Collaborating with the parish, we engage in acts of service, spreading love and compassion to those in need
- Community Unity: Building strong relationships with the parish creates a supportive network, fostering a warm and welcoming environment for all.
Let us come together as a united community, celebrating our students' achievements and embracing the bonds that connect us. Actively engage with the parish, attend Mass, participate in events, and contribute to our shared faith journey. Wishing our Confirmation students, a memorable and blessed experience!

To do this you need to go to the following site: https://stanthonys.coneqt-p.cathednet.wa.edu.au/ and use your current username and password. This link is also found on the homepage of the school website under Quick Links.
If you have remembered your username but have forgotten your password, please click on the "Forgot your Password?" link and an immediate email will be sent to you. The password reset link in the email will expire within one hour, so please action this immediately.
