Science: We will complete Lesson 5-3 next week out of the Science Textbook
Writing/Social Studies: Our next writing unit will go hand in hand with our Social Studies Unit. We completed an explorers research project this week and we will begin reading Social Studies Chapter 2 next week. We will also have vocabulary tests weekly based on the chapter. Look for a red hand-made journal that has the vocabulary words in it. After we complete the reading, we will begin our Explorers Research Essay. Stay tuned!
Reading: All-Stars are learning how to read with significance as well as more purpose. They are starting to "grow ideas" and understand that small ideas can actually lead to large themes. The students are really enjoying Bud Not Buddy!
Word Work: The 5th Grade bagn our Spelling Unit! On Mondays from 10:00-11:00, students will go to a 5th grade teacher's class based on their Spelling Assessment completed at the beginning of the year. They will have nightly homework and will take a spelling test at the end of the week. The program is called "Words Their Way."

The Scholastic Book Fair is the primary fundraiser for the library. In addition to supporting our library, you can build your own home library and you can also purchase a book for your child's teacher to help build their classroom library. There will also an opportunity to donate new books to our sister school, Grant Elementary, in honor of Ms. Sutherland our recently retired and much loved librarian.
