The Life of C.S. Lewis
C.S. Lewis was born on November 29, 1898 in Belfast, Ireland. He had the name Clive Staples Lewis, but he declared himself Jack and was known by Jack by his family and friends. He was very close to his older brother Warren. He was intrigued by imaginary elements and he created the imaginary and detailed world of Boxen, with a very detailed history. His mother died when he was 10 years old.
He received his pre-college education from boarding schools and from a tutor. During WWl, he served in the English army. He was sent home after being wounded by shrapnel. In the 1950s he started to publish his Chronicle of Narnia series. In 1956 he married an English teacher, Joy Gresham. She died in 1960 from cancer. Then C.S. Lewis died on November 24, 1963 in Headington, Oxford from rental failure.
