Sun Fever
Immune Response
Common Cold
On my way arriving in New York in the summer i caught a cold. It was just a normal common cold it came with runny nose, cough, mild fever and a little headache.
Pathogen
a bacterium, virus, or other microorganism that can cause disease. The common cold usually causes a runny nose, nasal congestion, and sneezing. You may also have a sore throat, cough, headache, or other symptoms. (Viral)
Antigen
An antigen is any substance which provokes an adaptive immune response. That is to say, an antigen is a molecule that also induces an immune response in the body.
Antibody
An antibody is a large Y-shape protein produced by plasma cells that is used by the immune system to identify and neutralize foreign objects such as bacteria and viruses.
immune response
The immune response is how your body recognizes and defends itself against bacteria, viruses, and substances that appear foreign and harmful. There are two lines of defense. Line 1:
- Enzymes in tears and skin oils
- Mucus, which traps bacteria and small particles
- skin
Line 2: - Inflammatory response
- increased white blood cells
- fever
- tissues become swollen
How the body recognize The Pathogen
Your immune system is designed very simular to an army. There are "scout" white blood cells (Monocytes) which are responsible to scan your body. They are designed to capture a piece of the material and bring it to the "general" white blood cell (T-Helper cells). The T-Helper cell then analyzes the proteins that are present. If the protein matches known invaders, the "general" cell then organizes the "soldier" white cells and instructs them how to dissolve and absorb the protein wall and kill either the bacteria or the
Phagocyte
Phagocytes are the white blood cells that protect the body by eating dirt, bacteria and dead or dying cells. They are important for fighting infections

How the body fights against the invading pathogen
It start out with 2 lines o defense. 1st line you have the skin , acidic oil and sweat kills most bacteria. mucus saliva and enzymes in tears break down the cell wall of the bacteria. In the 2nd line you have what is known as the inflammatory response. As a result of this your body produce more white blood cells and your body "jacks" up your temperature so you get a fever because heat kills pathogens. this also bring pain and swelling in the infected cell.
Immunity
Upon coming into contact with this form of the common cold my immune system has created antibodies to fight against that pathogen. After destroying those pathogens I know I will not get that kind of cold again. My body has became immune.
