NEW for 22-23 School Year: Required Panther Parent Orientation
As part of School Registration for the 22-23 school year, you will be required to attend a Panther Parent Orientation. After parents have attended the Alexander Parent Orientation, receiving the new Alexander Family Handbook, and signing in acknowledgement of receiving the information, parents will receive the name of their child's 2022-2023 teacher.
The purpose of this is to:
- Reconnect with our families after two inconsistent years due to the pandemic
- Clearly communicate student expectations- what is expected of all Panthers? What are next steps when expectations are not met?
- Share parenting resources to support student learning- behavioral and academic
- Explain campus-wide systems and procedures
There will be a plethora of time slots available for you to attend during July and August prior to registration. Be on the lookout as times are announced in May. We look forward to working together to start off the 22-23 school year strong for our students!
Mental Health Awareness
Dear Parents and Guardians,
May is Mental Health Awareness Month. Denton ISD is committed to providing developmentally appropriate education to students on important topics including bullying behaviors, relationship violence, and mental health and wellness. Additionally, mandates from the state of Texas require school districts to provide prevention and education concerning these topics.
- Youth Suicide Prevention and Intervention (September)
Bully and Cyberbully Prevention, Harassment, and Internet Safety (Oct)
Healthy Choices (Oct/Nov)
Healthy Relationships, Safe Touches, and Respecting Self/Others (Feb)
We understand that parents and guardians are the primary educators of their children. Our goal is to partner with parents/guardians in building essential life skills. Parents/Guardians are welcome to review the presentations planned for each of the topics above. If you would like to review these presentations, please email your child’s campus Professional School Counselor.
If your child is having suicidal thoughts and/or thoughts of hurting someone else please contact the North Texas crisis line at 214-828-1000, go to your nearest emergency room and/or call 911.
Please reach out to Mrs. Taylor or Mr. Guerin if you have any questions.

We also ask that you stay in your car when in the car lane - your child will be brought to your car at the colored cones. This process will get quicker and easier as the days continue, we promise!

COVID Safety Measures
At Alexander, our priority is the safety of our students and staff. We will continue to work closely with the Denton County Health Department (DCHD) and follow their guidelines and recommendations. The following are safety measures Alexander Elementary will be taking:
Face masks are recommended.
Staff will help students practice how to walk in a line, or stand in line, socially distanced.
Hand-washing and hand sanitizing will take place several times each day, such as before/after recess, lunch, bathroom use, and more.
Students will wipe their learning areas during the day to keep their desk area clean.
Custodians will continue increased cleaning routines throughout the day & evenings to ensure proper disinfecting and sanitizing in all areas of the building.
Hand sanitizing stations will remain set up at all entrances.
Individual math kits are also being provided so manipulatives aren’t shared when possible.
General school supplies, such as crayons, notebooks, pencils, etc, will not be shared by students. Each student will keep their supplies in individual bins and/or cubbies.
If a student has a fever or suspected covid, flu, or strep symptoms, they will be brought to a room in isolation, supervised by a staff member, and the guardian contacted to come pick up the child. The classroom will also be disinfected.
