Start of Career

Sammy Davis Jr. was a singer, dancer, actor off stage, screen musician and impressionist. In 1959 Sammy became a member of the band called the "Rat Pack". There were five people in the band including Sammy. They names were Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Joey Bishop and Peter Lawford. The band made several made movies together, for example: Ocean's 11 in 1960.

Sammy has albums that are from the 1950's all the way you to the 1990's he was very hit with songs and selling albums. His music is very catchy and he has songs about the blues, life, love etc. The most biggest awards he got was the Kennedy Center Honors Award in 1987, NAACP Image Award in 1987, Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2001 and Grammy Hall of Fame Award in 2002.

If Sammy was still alive today he would be 89 years old. He was born on December 8, 1925. He died on May 16, 1990 of throat Cancer. He had 4 kids named Jeff, Tracy, Mark and Manny. Sammy had three different wife's separately his first wife was Loray White from 1958-1959, his second wife was May Britt from 1960-1968 and his third wife is Altovise Davis from 1970-1990 and she is still his wife.
