First Day of School Eve!
Welcome to the 2016-2017 school year! What a delight it was to see so many of you at our meet the teacher event this past Thursday! A big THANK YOU to our fantabulous PTA for organizing the evening!
The BES staff and I look forward to seeing each of our Texans tomorrow morning for the first day of school. School starts at 7:40 a.m. Students may enter the building starting at 7:15 a.m. Family members may walk students into the building on Monday and Tuesday. Starting Wednesday, all adults entering the building need to first sign in with the office. Thank you for bringing your driver's license each time you visit Bransford. Please see below for specifics on dismissal procedures.
The BES staff and I hope you and your students enjoy a memorable first day of school. We look forward to an incredible year as we build an excellent school together!
Educationally yours,
Jamie Halliburton
BES Goals 2016-2017
We are now 5 years into our district strategic plan, LEAD 2021. As we as a campus continue to strive towards meeting the objectives set forth in LEAD 2021, we set goals for ourselves and our students. Below, please find the overarching goals we have for Bransford for the 2016-2017 school year to assist in our journey towards reaching the goals outlined in LEAD 2021. We will continue to talk about and update you on our progress towards these goals throughout the school year.
Creating a positive welcoming environment for our students and staff where risk taking is encouraged and embraced
Using student voice to influence decisions in our classrooms, hallways, and building
Using the Units of Study in each grade level to create a systematic approach to writing
Starting CORE visits to learn from the experts on our staff
Taking time to build relationships with staff, students, and families
Celebrating the GCISD reading challenge with our students and staff
Use the new Learning Platform Rubric and T-TESS with staff to assist us in our growth toward a learning platform
Develop students and staff who are skilled problem solvers, collaborative workers, effective communicators, global citizens, and self-regulated learners
Dismissal Procedures
We are excited to greet your students as they return to school tomorrow morning. In order to be prepared for dismissal, please take a moment to read below before Monday afternoon.

Yearly Volunteer Requirements
In order to volunteer at BES this year in classrooms, during school-wide event, or as a field trip chaperone, please review the new volunteer handbook and complete the required background check. Thank you for understanding that this process must be repeated each school year. Now is a good time to complete this process and encourage all family members who might want to volunteer to complete it, too. For the protection of students and staff, all volunteer applicants must read the Volunteer Handbook and complete the online form authorizing the district to obtain a criminal history background check.

Device Agreement
We wanted to make you aware of the new GCISD Device Agreement for 2016-2017. Every parent needs to sign the Parent Device Agreement and pay a one-time elementary fee of $50 regardless of whether their student will take home their iPad. Even if a student is not taking the device home, parents still must sign the agreement and pay the $50.
If you did not complete the Device Agreements at meet the teacher night, we will send home a form this week or you can pick one up in the front office. A link to the Device Agreement is provided below.
