I'M HAVING A BABY!!!

1st Trimester

In the first trimester, a woman's body goes through many changes. The body releases hormones that affect almost every single organ in the body. The first sign you may be pregnant is missing a period.As the first few weeks pass, some women experience,tiredness,upset stomach,throwing up,mood swings,tender breasts,heartburn,weight gain,headaches,cravings for certain foods,revulsion to certain foods,constipation.

For the baby

  • 1/4 - 1/2 inch long
  • Heart begins to beat
  • Simple Kidneys,liver,and digestive tract appear
  • 2 inches long
  • Human face with eyes,ears,nose,lips and tongue
  • Can swallow and may even breathe
  • Tail beginning to be absorbed
  • 3 inches long
  • Beings to be active
  • Internal organs begin to function

2nd Trimester

  • 6 - 7 inches long
  • 4 ounces in weight
  • Body now growing faster than head
  • 10 - 12 inches long
  • 8 - 16 Ounces in weight
  • Skeleton hardens 12 - 14 inches long
  • 12 -14 inches long
  • 1 1/2 pounds in weight
  • Much more active, Exercising muscles
  • May be able to breath if born prematurely

3rd Trimester

  • Begins to develop fatty tissue
  • Internal Organs (especially respiratory and digestive)
  • Still developing
  • Has a fair chance of survival if born now
  • Fatty layer complete
  • Birth
  • 19 - 20 inches long
  • 6 - 8 pounds in weight (average)
  • 95 percent of full-term babies born alive in the United States will survive
