Girls' Reading Club: Delirium by Lauren Oliver
The first book selected for the Girls' Reading Club was Delirium by Lauren Oliver. In a Utopian U.S., love has been announced, a threatening disease, and the government-mandates all who reach 18 to have a surgery called the cure.
The book discussion began by comparing and contrasting the present United States with the Utopian U.S., Lena lived in. It continued with the briefing of the government-mandate cure performed to get rid of love and live a safe and predictable life. The book discussion was intense and emotional.
The girls enjoyed making and eating chocolate covered strawberries. This is a sweet treat often given to the one you Love on Valentine's Day.
