Kuna families
We welcome autumn this week and are grateful for the clear skies and temperatures -- and the opportunity to serve our students. Please take a moment to review the "Looking Ahead" events. The schedule in October is a busy one with parent teacher conference, activities, athletics, special events and music performances. Also, early in the month we have a few days with no school and some additional early release days at the elementary to accommodate parent/teacher conferences.
⚠️ Survey closes 10 p.m. tonight
If you haven't already, we appreciate you taking a few minutes to share your thoughts on the building needs you see in our district. The Capital Plan Task Force needs your feedback to finalize its work on a 10-year plan for new schools and renovations as well as what projects to ask taxpayers to pay for first.

👀 We'll use one-time federal funds instead of emergency property tax
Monday, you should have received a recap of this month's school board meeting from your school board member. (If you got two, we are working to rebuild our lists!)
In case you missed the newsletter, you can review them here, I wanted to make sure our patrons knew that we are taking advantage of the unique position we are in with one-time federal funds.
Here's what's happening:
The district's enrollment has grown nearly 2% and gained more than 100 students from a year ago. The growth would qualify the district for a one-time emergency property tax of more than $642,000. Rather than use the emergency tax, the district will cover the additional needs (books, desks, etc.) more students bring by using one-time federal funds and grants.

❓Questions, rumor mill: What's happening with the dairy?
We received our first "rumor mill" submission of the year.
Did the dairy near the high school sell? Will it's no longer be a dairy? My high schooler says everyone knows it's sold and not going to be a dairy!
We don't have any official knowledge about what is happening at this property adjacent to Kuna High School. We do know why people are talking about it. In a June 15 social media post, Breanne Carson shared: "Dear Kuna Residents: We at the Robertson DAIRY on DEERFLAT would like to announce that we have officially SOLD all of our DAIRY COWS, however, some heifers will still remain. We are grateful for all of your continued support during Kuna’s exponential growth over the years. Thanks Again, Darrell & Breanne Carson"
