Paws Up to Hunt Valley Church
Shout out to the Hunt Valley Church for donating several large boxes of children's books to our school. Ms. Smith, reading specialist and Ms. Counsell, school counselor were the recipients of this wonderful gift to our school. We look forward to growing our partnership!
We are seeking volunteers to support students in our Mays Chapel Cafe!

Maryland School Survey - 5th Grade Only
Maryland requires that all public schools survey students about school climate. The purpose of the survey is to gain valuable information about the quality and character of the learning environment in each school. The survey will take about 30 minutes and will ask students about topics such as student engagement, interactions with adults and with other students in the school, the school environment, bullying, and safety. The survey will not ask about a student’s personal experiences and will not ask the student to provide any information that might violate his or her privacy.
Mays Chapel Elementary students in grade 5 will take the survey on April 5 at 11:00 a.m. Although students will be permitted to make up any sessions missed, most students feel more comfortable taking the test with their classmates. Please make every effort to have your child at school on April 5, 2022. If you have any questions about this survey, you may contact Mrs. Fortier at rfortier@bcps.org.

Our 1st Race for Education is just a month away and we need your help to make it successful! A kickoff letter was sent home with your student earlier this week with all the information about the race! Students will walk and/or jog around a designated area as many times as possible during a one-hour period. How can you support this cause?
- Help us raise funds for the school by asking family and friends to support your student. In the kickoff letter there is a link ( www.race4ed.com/mces )to the donation site and a mailer attached. You can email, text, or post on social media to get the word out. If you do use the mailer and need more, please let us know.
- Attend Race Day! We are looking for volunteers for each class to help support the students as they run their laps! Please see the link for the sign-up. Race For Education - Volunteer Sign Up
We want to thank our sponsors for their support. David Ross Orthodontics has donated snacks and prizes at the completion of the race and Charm City Run has sponsored the finish line! Lastly, we want to thank all of you for helping to find sponsors and raise money to support the Mays Chapel Elementary School PTO and the families.
Let's start the Race to get sponsors!
Thank you,
Shelby Maltese
