Dear 8th-grade students and families,
We are continuing to move through the Watertown High School course selection process. At this time, 8th-grade teachers have made recommendations for English, Math, Science, Social Studies, and World Language courses. Your student has likely completed their preliminary elective selection form on which they indicated their top four elective choices for next year. Descriptions of electives can be found by clicking on the links below:
Beginning early next week, students will be able to view their course requests on PowerSchool and will be provided a paper copy of their current course requests. WHS school counselors will be meeting with students to review their requests, and we ask that you do the same with your student. You will note that the paper copy that is shared with your student includes a sign-off sheet and a space for changes to be made. Please complete this form, indicating you have reviewed the courses with your student and noting any questions or changes you may have so that the school counseling team can update course requests and follow up as needed. If your student did not complete the elective request form, they can use this sheet to provide their top four elective choices or make necessary changes.
As a reminder, students and families are invited to join us for Program of Studies Night at WHS on Thursday, April 7. From 6:30-7:00 PM, attendees will receive a brief overview of Watertown High School and learn about the course offerings in our Career and Technical Education and Fine, Applied, and Performing Arts departments, including information about our Engineering, Digital Media and Communications, and Medical Assisting Pathways. Following the presentation, students and families are invited to visit with curriculum coordinators to learn more about specific departmental course offerings and opportunities available to WHS students. The event will conclude at 8:00 PM.
Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions regarding this process. We look forward to working with you and your student in the coming months and years!
Be well,
Adrienne Eaton, Lead School Counselor
