DID YOU KNOW?
ESC REGION 11 MIGRANT EDUCATION PROGRAM
DID YOU KNOW?
A family, enrolled in your district, has been absent or goes out of town. Upon return the student mentions to her teacher that the family went to another town to work. The student also explains that they stayed with her uncle temporarily. The family picked pecans while they were gone in order to earn money to pay the electric bill. That, my friends, is a migratory family.
Migratory families are not specifically immigrants. They do not belong to one specific ethnic group. Migratory families have one member or more in their family who do temporary, agriculture work, out of economic necessity.
THE NEW OCCUPATIONAL SURVEY IS HERE!
TIP: It would be beneficial to your district for each campus registrar or school office secretary to have a hard copy of this form to hand out if they become aware of a potential migratory family.

Please encourage the identified migratory families in your district/charter to attend this meeting. The migratory families will be reimbursed for their mileage to this event. There will be homework supplies distributed and lunch provided. This is a great opportunity to help this highly mobile population learn about their own strengths as a leader in their home. You are more than welcome to attend as well.

Also, please don't forget to send report cards each reporting period (e.g. each six-weeks).
