SST Program at Fernbank Science Center
We are pleased to announce that applications are now being accepted for the Scientific Tools and Techniques (STT) Program at Fernbank Science Center for the 2022-2023 school year. STT is an advanced, fast-paced, one-semester science program designed to familiarize ninth grade students with the tools and techniques of scientific inquiry. STT exposes students to many science fields and STEM careers. Each school year, 180 students are selected to participate in the program -- ninety students are selected to attend each semester. The spring 2022 STT application process will be completely online using the Google Classroom platform. We have created the 2022 – 2023 STT Digital Brochure for you to learn more about this premier DeKalb County School District (DCSD) program!
Application Deadline is Friday, February 25th!
Student Selection Process: Eighth graders interested in applying for STT should see Mrs. Crowder room #805 for information on the application process. Each middle school accepts applications and scores students based on the following criteria: 1. English, Math, Science and Social Studies grades. 2. One 7th or 8th grade science teacher recommendation. 3. Evaluation of student responses to short answer questions.

Student Spotlight: Mirabel Datsa
Our student spotlight this week is Mirabel Datsa (6gr)! Her teacher, Ms. Myra Elder, shared that she is a hard-working student that strives for success. We asked Mirabel some questions about being a student at Peachtree and you'll see that her responses highlight how great she is.
What does it mean to be a Patriot?
"Well I don't have a lot of experience yet since I'm in 6th grade, but so far it means caring for those who need you and giving out a helping hand. When I'm the one in need of help, they're there for me too."
If you could give any advice to a fellow Patriot, what would you say?
"In in your most desperate times, keep pushing. When you're afraid, go to that gut feeling and just keep going. One day you'll be more successful and anyone that doubted you will be coming to you."
Mirabel has an amazing talent: her voice. She wants to continue working on public speaking and looks forward to becoming a successful activist and entrepreneur.
