Cotton Gin and the Missouri Compromise
Eli Whitney invented the cotton gin and it is a machine that quickly and easily separates cotton fibers from their seeds, allowing for much greater productivity than manual cotton separation. This made slavery popular because it was easier to harvest cotton so the plantation owners need a lot more slaves.
Henry Clay wrote the Missouri Compromise and it was an effort by Congress to defuse the sectional and political rivalries triggered by the request of Missouri late in 1819 for admission as a state in which slavery would be permitted.
War of 1812
The War of 1812 was a military conflict, lasting for two and a half years, fought by the United states of america against the United Kingdom if Great Britain. Great Britain began cutting off trading roots in the Atlantic ocean and imprisoning american sailors. They did all of this because the United States wanted to expand north to Canada and east to the new territory. James Madison was president during this war and when the British army burned down the white house James Madison and most of the senate were nowhere to be found.Dolly Madison saved a portrait of George Washington when they burned down the mansion.
