Choosing Positivity
I know I preach positivity all the time, but it is becoming the culture at our school. This TED talk is awesome because it talks about how to spread positivity and positive thinking to those around you. It's got to be a movement! Your positive attitude makes a difference not only to our school culture but to your colleagues. CHOOSE TO HAVE A GOOD DAY... Happiness is a choice. Many negative things happen all around us and inevitably, there are going to be times where things aren't going the way we planned. But I challenge you to see the best in others and the best in yourself and CHOOSE joy, happiness, and positivity at all costs. One of the positive things that have caught on is our shoutouts. It started as a way for staff to appreciate one another, which is awesome and so uplifting. But something beautiful happened when our students wanted to get in on this movement. Now, we've got students stopping by the office, 5th-Kindergarteners, just to speak kind words to others or say something positive about a teacher. It's beautiful!!

READBOWL CHAMPIONS
Read With Malcolm - Mitchell's Youth Literacy Foundation has announced that Mrs. Humphrey's Class (Humphrey's Crew) has been crowned READBowl North Carolina State Reading Champions in the Elementary (3-5 grade) conference. Mrs. Humphrey's class was one of 118 classes, and 2628 students competing in North Carolina. Her class read for a combined 63,478 minutes over the four weeks of READBowl, taking top honors in North Carolina, while contributing significantly to the record-setting nationwide reading minutes total of nearly 18 million.
The Foundation is gearing up for a March Madness competition, "READMadness" and I think it would be AMAZING if we could get more classes on board. Please contact Mrs. Humphrey if you are interested!!!
