Mass reflections

Saints are not saints for what they did. It is who they are! Saints are not perfect. All they did was believe God and pray every day and night. Jesus asks us to be who we are. If you want to be a saint, just be ourselves! Avery 4A

In the homily, I learned that saints are saints because of who they are , not what they did. For instance, if you do something for the looks and you didn't' want to do that, it is not being nice. But if you see something that needs to be helped, do it out of kindness, not for being popular. Be kind to people! Myah 4A

In First Grade, Jay was a quiet kid that never spoke bad words about anyone. Jay was a kid about love and compassion and Father Tim said, "Saints are saints because of who they are, not what they did". If you want to become a saint when you are older, to be like a saint, just be yourself. Jay was being like himself and not trying to impress others. Jay acted like a saint and acted like a saint would. Joey 4B

A boy named Jay that went to school. He was different by collecting critters and by doing that, he always acted like himself. Then he started to die from cancer and he said that he will be ok for he trusts God with all his heart. So, in order to follow the steps to be a saint, you have to be yourself and not care what other people around you think because it doesn't matter what you did or do. What matters is who you really are inside. Jihanna 4B

Youth Ministry

Come join us for Middle School Ministry on November 9th. The teens will play fun games, like a game called minefield. During the night, students will learn to answer the question “how can a good God exist if there is evil and suffering in the world.” This question, according to recent surveys (given to adults), has the biggest percentage for why people identify as “none” in religious affiliation. We’ll be exploring this question and what the Catholic faith believes about this question.

For those kids who want to get to room 3 early, I’ll open the doors at 5:30 PM. They can play billiards, foosball, and air hockey until 6:00 PM when our program starts!

Gospel Reading this Sunday

Some Sadducees, those who deny that there is a resurrection,
came forward and put this question to Jesus, saying,
"Teacher, Moses wrote for us,
If someone's brother dies leaving a wife but no child,
his brother must take the wife
and raise up descendants for his brother.

Now there were seven brothers;
the first married a woman but died childless.
Then the second and the third married her,
and likewise all the seven died childless.
Finally the woman also died.
Now at the resurrection whose wife will that woman be?
For all seven had been married to her."
Jesus said to them,
"The children of this age marry and remarry;
but those who are deemed worthy to attain to the coming age
and to the resurrection of the dead
neither marry nor are given in marriage.
They can no longer die,
for they are like angels;
and they are the children of God
because they are the ones who will rise.
That the dead will rise
even Moses made known in the passage about the bush,
when he called out 'Lord, '
the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob;
and he is not God of the dead, but of the living,
for to him all are alive." - Lk 20:27-38

St. Joseph Prayer

O Blessed Joseph, faithful guardian of my Redeemer, Jesus Christ, protector of Mary, the virgin Mother of God, I choose you this day to be my special patron and advocate and I firmly resolve to honor you all the days of my life. Therefore, I humbly ask you to receive me as your client, to instruct me in every doubt, to comfort me in every affliction, to obtain for me and for all the knowledge and love of the Heart of Jesus, and finally to defend and protect me at the hour of my death. Amen.
