Falcons Give Back
A few HS Students spent their morning yesterday (yes, Saturday morning-no sleeping in) to volunteer with Seven Homes. Seven Homes is a non-profit organization. Their focus is to provide services for North Carolina children and families involved in the foster care system. Seven homes provides recruitment, training, licensing, placement, case management, and adoption services for our foster and adoptive families.
Be on the lookout for more opportunities for our students to serve. If you know of an organization that would benefit from some awesome volunteers, please contact Mrs. Sellmer (msellmer@thencla.org.) We would love to grow our partnerships!
Big shoutout to Mrs. Maggard for serving right along side of the students!
“Remember that the happiest people are not those getting more, but those giving more.” ― H. Jackson Brown Jr.
Students-if you are in search of opportunities in the community to serve...we can meet at lunch in the Conference Room (if open) to discuss! I look forward to it! - Ms. Sellmer

Message from Athletic Director
As Spring Sports start I want to communicate the importance of patience as we are experiencing an exorbitant amount of rain and with us only having one indoor facility for practice that we are going to do our best to schedule practices and tryouts as efficiently as we can. Flexibility will be important for all student-athletes, parents and coaches to exercise during this time.
Here are the Join codes for Remind for Spring Sports. Once your child is on the final team roster, please join that group to ensure you receive communications regarding your sport.

Jim Shaw's Ace Flying Academy
The ACE Academy @ the Smith Reynold’s Airport is in Winston-Salem. This camp is an excellent opportunity for students interested in careers in aviation. It’s also great for parents who are looking for a worth-while summer camp.
This year with the delays of the public school summer, Mr. Shaw has agree to host a session June 10-14. He is doing a middle and high school combo and giving the Leadership Academy students first dibs on the 50 slots available. The large grant that subsidizes this program is an extra bonus. The fee for the week, M-F 8-3pm, Lunch and snacks included is $125 per student.
There is also a series of Saturday sessions each month in conjunction with the ACE Summer Camp. The 1st session is set for February 16th. LINK to register or for more information: https://shawaceacademy.sportngin.com/register/form/252414977?_ga=2.43765093.1907469353.1548360884-2057757726.1548360884

NCLA Letterman Jackets
I have had several folks ask about ordering letterman jackets for christmas.
If you think you may be interested in ordering a letter jacket (possibly as a Christmas gift) please complete the form below.
We will let you know how much the jackets are once we place an order this week. The ones ordered last year were right at $100
- The jackets RUN BIG. (The one Charlotte has on is a Medium)
- They are fully lined and are wool. They are really nice jackets.
- We will sell you the jackets at cost. The school will provide the letters and pins to the athletes that earned them. Jackets can only be purchased by athletes that earned a letter last year or this year so far. You will have to have the letters sewn on as well as any embroidery on the jackets. DO NOT SEND IN ANY MONEY UNTIL WE CONTACT YOU.
