Love is always patient and kind;

Love is never jealous; love is not boastful or conceited.

It is never rude and never seeks its own advantage,

It does not take offence or store up grievances.

Love does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but finds its joy in the truth.

It is always ready to make allowances, to trust,

To hope and to endure whatever comes.

Love never comes to an end.

Introduction to the Code of Conduct

The purpose of the Code of Conduct is to describe the minimum standards of conduct in all behaviour and decision making to ensure the safety and well-being of our students. The Code of Conduct guides our personal and professional behaviour in a way that maintains public trust and confidence in our school and the Church.

We acknowledge the inherent vulnerability of the students in our care and recognise that the safety and well-being of students depends upon the vigilance and diligence of all adults. The Code does not give detailed advice on specific behaviour but rather describes the minimum requirements expected of us.

If our behaviour varies from the standards described, then we have to be prepared to explain and justify our decisions and actions. There is a presumption that the conduct described in the Code is mandatory and not discretionary.

In cases of conflict between parts of the Code or conflict between the Code and other school policies, priority needs to be given to the outcome that will be in the best interests of the safety and well-being of the child.
