Week in review
This week the Navigators continued their learning about butterflies and life cycles. We looked at a few more baby pictures and compared and contrasted what the friends looked like before and now. The studentss enjoyed seeing that most of our caterpillars have changed into their chrysalises! We also explored what symmetry is, noticing that butterfly wings are symmetrical to each other. For art, the students first practiced fine motor skills by cutting out their butterfly. The students then chose art supplies like buttons, pom poms, and tissue paper squares to decorate it, keeping in mind that they needed 2 of the same item to make the design symmetrical. We also discussed the life cycle of a frog.
In addition, this week we went to the library to watch the 2nd graders put on
Elephant and Piggie skits.
In HWT the students practiced writing the letters R, K, and A.
In Jolly Phonics the students learned the sounds ou.
