Message from the Principal

Dear Center High School Parents,

It’s a great day and it’s a great time to be a Yellowjacket! As I began to reflect on the last six to seven months I have been inspired by the grit and determination our Center High School scholars and staff have shown. I have been equally impressed by the high levels of support from our Center High School parents as well. The spring of 2020 challenged staff and scholars to find a new normal for learning, connected us in new ways and required our champions to champion from afar. What I have most learned through this process is how much I appreciate the expertise our teachers bring to CHS, the ways in which our scholars continue to work hard to grow and overall, appreciation for the little things in life - giving a high five, a hug or being able to laugh out loud with many people around. What I most appreciate about CHS is how even under circumstances we have never experienced we are still a learning and caring community.

Normal is such a simple word and it is our goal at CHS to not only find our new normal, but to use this time as a learning experience that will forever impact the learning environment of CHS. Our fall may not be “normal,” but our learning will not only continue, It will be better than this past spring and thrive.

Center High School is a small school with the goal of providing opportunities of a large campus, which we know is why many of you entrust us with the education of your children. Our staff prides itself in ensuring that all students have as many educational and extra-curricular opportunities as students in much larger schools throughout the county. We are committed to maintaining the highest standards so that there will be no shortage of opportunities for your scholar. Our mission is for scholars to feel challenged on a daily basis with high quality instruction and have a wide variety of channels to get connected to their school and fellow scholars.

Starting in October, CHS parents should expect to see the parent newsletter the second Friday of each month. It will be organized in a fashion that the most critical information is at the top and as you scroll down the newsletter the information becomes more oriented toward the future. This is your “One Stop Shop” to stay informed about the happenings of our Center High School community. I look forward to partnering with our CHS parents and our Center School District community.

Mr. Edward Tate

Center High School Principal

Parent Support Group

In an effort to provide a safe place for parents to gain support for these challenging and vastly different ways of doing school, we have created a FB Group. This group will serve as a "HUB" of information and a point of meeting for parents to gain support for these times. We want parents to share tips and tricks that they are using at home to provide support for their CHS Scholar. Join as at this place for more information and updates. PARENT SUPPORT GROUP!

Thank you to Mrs. Olivia Stevenson for her willingness to oversee our Parent University. Mrs. Stevenson is the assistant principal who will work with our senior students during this 2020-2021 school year. When Mr. Tate came to Center High School he sought parent, student, and staff feedback to come up with a way to bridge a partnership for parents to be more involved with school staff and to inform parents and the community about CHS programs. Parent University is also a way to forge community and educational partnerships with our CHS community. From this idea, Parent University was formed here at Center High School.
