It has been a great first three days at FCE! Your kiddos have gotten back into the swing of things and have been busy learning and meeting new friends. It is going to be a great year!
iPad distribution (rentals): We are getting close! All 1st-4th grade iPads will have been distributed by the end of the day today and kindergarten students will receive theirs on Monday as long as forms have been filled out it Skyward.
NWEA: This is an online assessment all HSE students take 3 times a year to measure growth throughout the school year. Students take this assessment on the iPad. If the MAP testing app is already on your child's iPad from last year, please just make sure you have the updated version.
Renters and new students: There was an error in the recent Skylert about which app to download. To find the appropriate app, please type in NWEA MAP testing in the search box. A picture of the app is attached. Please make sure this is downloaded as testing begins for some students on Monday.
NWEA testing schedule:
8/14-8/15: 3rd and 4th grade
8/15-8/16: 2nd grade
8/16 and 8/18: 1st grade

EARLY RELEASE MONDAYS
Dear HSE Parents and Guardians:
To provide teachers with consistent and more frequent opportunities for professional development, Hamilton Southeastern Schools has implemented a 20-minute, early-release day each Monday for students, K-12, beginning with this school year. In turn, teachers will remain 25 minutes later on Mondays for a total of 45 minutes of professional development time each week. The first observance will be this coming Monday, August 14, 2017.
The new weekly meetings will replace the four professional development half days in last years calendar. A link to the 2017-2018 school calendar is below:

High-quality teaching remains the standard in Hamilton Southeastern Schools, and we look forward to advancing professional development. Thank you for your cooperation, and your continuous support of our teachers and students.
Sincerely,
HSE Schools

Application for Free or Reduced Lunch—Applications for the Free/Reduced Lunch Program are available through your Skyward Family Access under the Food Service tab. Simply click the application tab. The system will take you through a series of steps including a parent letter, instructions, the Federal income chart, Privacy Act and Non-Discrimination Statements. After completing all six parts of the application, you will electronically sign and click I agree. After reviewing your information, you will click submit. Our school was recently assigned a Licensed Mental Health Counselor who will be in our building approximately 2 ½ days a week to meet with students and their families. If you are interested in this service please reach out to your child’s guidance counselor to learn more.
