Checkpoints
Dear Catawba Ridge Families,
How are we doing? Good? Or, now that we are a few weeks in, are we seeing some academic areas that need to be corrected? If your student is struggling academically, we encourage you to have them communicate with their teachers. Our teachers are available via email, and for A/B students, they can come in early on their scheduled day for extra help (with teacher permission and a pass -see more below). FREE tutoring is also available7 days a week 8 AM—10 PM through Tutor.com (more info in this newsletter).
By now, our students should be settling into their A/B/FMVA routines and know what is expected of them each day. October is a long stretch - there may be some fatigue with the routine. If your student is looking for a way to safely connect with peers, please encourage them to get involved in one of our clubs. Copperhead Club info will be posted in the Art Gallery the entire month of October. There's more info about that in this newsletter.
The October Guidance Newsletter is also attached. There's a lot of important information regarding "next steps" and I encourage you to take time to review it with your student this weekend.
All this is to say "we're here to help". Our current learning environment isn't perfect -we're all doing the best we can. However, if we can correct a process or connect students with a resource, we want to know about it.
As always, the BEST source for information is directly from me. I encourage your to contact me anytime.

A Few Reminders:
ITEM DROP-OFFS ARE NOT PERMITTED: Per FMSD Policy, no items may be dropped off for students at the front office. This includes lunches, homework, athletic and band equipment. Additionally, students are not allowed to dismiss from class to retrieve items curbside or from their cars. Exceptions will be allowed with permission from an Administrator.
EXTRA HELP BEFORE SCHOOL: Students may come in early for extra help on their scheduled days with teacher permission and a pass from their teacher. This needs to be at the request of the teacher. Students can enter through the front door of the building at the main office starting at 7:45 AM. Students will need to submit a pass in the main office before proceeding to their class.
STUDENT DROP-OFFS FOR AFTER SCHOOL ACTIVITIES: Effective Monday, 9-21-20, the Student Parking Lot will no longer allow “Off” Day and Virtual Student after school drop-offs to attend practices/activities. Students arriving for after school activities should be dropped off through the Student Car Rider Line in front of the school near the band room. Students can walk around the building to the gym entrance or to wherever their practice is held. “Off” Day and Virtual Students drivers arriving to campus to participate in afterschool events are allowed to enter and park in the Student Parking Lot.
