Governor's School for Entrepreneurs
Week Three Recap
Igniting the Entrepreneurial Mindset of Kentucky Teens
With the 2019 GSE program coming to a close, our impact is evident. The 2019 Governor’s School for Entrepreneurs was our best program to date. A vision that took two years to create and build was brought to life and implemented this summer. With our largest cohort to date, we set out to redefine what it means to be an entrepreneur in Kentucky, starting with our teen population. With over 15 startups and businesses visited in the Commonwealth, 40 guest entrepreneurs and speakers, and 240+ hours spent learning and synthesizing - our three-week immersive transformed the mindsets of 72 talented teens through entrepreneurship.
Sincerely, we are thankful for the individuals and organizations who support and partner with GSE, and as a result, are now a part of Kentucky’s economic growth story. We are so proud of the impactful work we are doing together - and we’re just getting started. Let’s keep disrupting and innovating!
GSE Week Three
Toyota (TMMK)
We took a trip to Toyota Motor Manufacturing Kentucky. As our teams work to complete their MVPs for Demo Day, engineers and industry specialists at Toyota had great insight and advice to share on prototyping and iteration.
Our Es learned first hand about Lean Startup and were awed by Toyota's innovative mindset. It's no wonder they're leading the manufacturing industry! Thanks to TMMK for supporting our entrepreneurs and our statewide vision!
Preparation for Demo Day!
Week three of GSE was filled with crafting slide decks, pitch practice, and final touches. We help our teams pull all of their work together. It's such a cool, experiential process where the work they pitch on Demo Day is 100% their own.
Thank you to Cody Patterson of Cork Communications for spending time with us, helping our entrepreneurs hone professional presentation skills.
GSE's Demo Day
The 2019 GSE Demo Day was a beautifully transformative, impactful experience. With an audience of around 400, our talented teen entrepreneurs pitched 18 startup ideas. There was such special energy in the room! Our judges brought a wealth of knowledge and experience - Meg Rush, Jonathan Webb, Ramel Bradley, and Rebecca Wheeling - thank you for giving our entrepreneurs candid advice and genuine encouragement!
While their GSE journey has come to a close, we are ecstatic to keep working with our teens. GSE is just the beginning of their entrepreneurial journey!

Thank You, NKU!
" NKU is a growing metropolitan university of more than 14,000 students served by more than 2,000 faculty and staff on a thriving suburban campus near Cincinnati.
Located in the quiet suburb of Highland Heights, Kentucky—just seven miles southeast of Cincinnati—we have become a leader in Greater Cincinnati and Kentucky by providing a private school education for a fraction of the cost. While we are one of the fastest growing universities in Kentucky, our professors still know our students' names. "
