Counseling Department Update

This Month...
Personal Development: Students have completed most recently units on stress management, the hierarchy of needs and effective communication. Ms. Jacobsen & Mrs. Greene have also started weekly lessons with the special education class.
Career Exploration: Students are completing a unit focused on Careers & Money. Their main project is a life project where each student is assigned a job and had to research their career, finding a place to live, transportation, budgeting for meals and creating a budget.
Small Groups: Mrs. Greene has a total of 6 small groups, two for each grade level on topics such as motivation, leadership and self-esteem. Ms. Jacobsen runs an 8th grade girls group on relational aggression and self-esteem. Ms. Jacobsen also has 6th and 7th grade groups on bullying prevention and conflict resolution.
Professional Development
- Oct. 18-20 Ms. Jacobsen & Mrs. Greene went to the Colorado State Counseling Conference.

School Counseling Advisory Council
The purpose of the advisory council is to provide feedback on program goals, review program results, make recommendations, and advocate for the school counseling program.
We would like to invite the staff to be a part of this team. We meet once per semester and plan to meet next month. Stay tuned for more information about the upcoming meeting.
