Principal's Newsletter
From the Desk of Ms. Clark
October 30, 2019
Dear Parents,
Happy Halloween! I am sure you spent a lot of time helping your children think about who they want to be for this exciting night. A superhero, famous person, or a scary monster, all sort of ideas are discussed. While it’s always exciting for our children to dress up on this thrilling day and night, we also remember our saints and our fourth graders helped us remember many of them this afternoon.
November 1st is All Saints’ Day, a Holy day of obligation for Roman Catholics. It is helpful to think of “saints” as not only those women and men who have been canonized by the church, but all people whose lives reflect the goodness of God. We are grateful to God for each of the saints who have been a part of our life in some way. Their witness and inspiration encourages everyone to live their own lives in a better way so that God’s love shines through for all to see!
God’s blessings,
Ms. Clark
Living our Mission
Fall Open House
Don't forget to mark your calendars for our Open House! Pay us a visit after mass on Sunday, November 3rd from 12:00 to 2pm. All are invited to attend, and we hope to see you there!
Veteran's Day Celebration
Please join us for our annual Veterans Day Celebration when we will honor those who have served our country and fought for our freedom! If you have a relative who is veteran and he/she would be able to join us, please call the office. Our celebration will begin at 10am on Thursday, November 14th.
Winter School Uniform
Students must begin wearing their winter school uniform on November 1st. As always, a neat appearance demonstrates respect for others and fosters an individual’s sense of self-respect and pride. The SKD winter uniform requirements can be found in our Family Handbook on our school website.
Healthy Hands, Healthy Heart
Fall is here, and with the cool breeze comes the unfortunate cold and flu! If your child is sick, please keep him or her home. Please remind your child to always remember to wash his or her hands. Studies have proven that hand washing (next to the flu shot) is the BEST way to avoid colds and flu. A healthy diet and sleep also keep your immune system going, so be sure that your child gets plenty of rest!
Student Safety First
Please enter the morning drop-off car line with caution. The morning drop off is an express line; parents may not stop and get out of their cars. Students must exit from the PASSENGER SIDE only. Students MUST be ready to exit the car once pulling into the car line drop-off in order to eliminate back-up traffic. DO NOT DRIVE OUT OF THE CAR LINE. PLEASE WAIT FOR THE LINE TO MOVE SLOWLY TO EXIT.
If you need to bring your child into the school building, you MUST park your car in the front of the school and enter through the main school entrance. You must report to the office. No cars are permitted to park or idle in front of the school in the fire lane.
Late Arrivals
Please make every effort to get your child to school on time. This teaches our students respect and courtesy along with an understanding of the importance of being on time. When a child is late, it disrupts the morning routines of the classroom and often the child becomes overwhelmed.
