Vile Victorians
My 'read a book day' project
About the book
If your looking for a book about the Victorian era that you can learn something from but also a book that you can't put down well then I have a book for you. This book covers everything in the Victorian era, from Victoria (their queen) to Jack the Ripper (one of there many villains) and to the awful Victorian army.
Queen Victoria
Queen Victoria stayed on the throne the second longest of any English king or queen ever. She had a husband named Albert but when he died she hid herself from the public for 40 years.
Jack the Ripper
Jack the Ripper was a feared Victorian to many people of that time. For around 100 years police, historians, authors and librarians have tried and failed to figure out who he (or she) was. Jack killed 8 women and then suddenly stopped. He (or she) was lucky the police of that time was awful for Jack the Ripper was never caught.
The Victorian army
Possibly the Worlds worst army ever was the Victorian army (although queen Victoria thought of the highly.) They lost a war against the Russians and it was defiantly there own fault.but they also weren't so bad as in they hold the record for the shortest war in the history of the world. fighting broke out at 9:02 in the mourning and ended at 9:40 in the mourning. The fighting was between Zanzibar and England.
