Celebration of Science Learning
Our school science fair this year will be a school-day event in which students share their scientific knowledge and discoveries with their peers and the community. Every student will be part of this special celebration of science learning on the morning of April 6th.
If your child would ALSO enjoy doing their own separate scientific inquiry or engineering project at home, we’d like to invite them to present their work at the 19th annual district-wide CREST-Jane Goodall Science Symposium!
The Science Symposium will be held on March 10th at West Linn High School, 5464 West A St., West Linn. Young scientists and their families may arrive any time between 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. to set up the project display. From then until 7:15 p.m., students may alternate between spending time talking to people about their project and:
- Talking to other primary school students about their work
- Visiting the Discovery Center full of fun STEM activities and groups
- Visiting the Exhibit Hall to view the projects done by 6-12th grade students
Please visit this link to let us know your student is planning to present a project so we make sure to have exhibit space for everyone: www.tinyurl.com/CRESTSymposium . You may also e-mail questions about the Symposium to CREST Director Amy Schauer, schauera@wlwv.k12.or.us.
International Night April 17th!
It is a pleasure to announce that we will be celebrating our 6th annual International Night together on Friday, April 17th! This event is a celebration of the many diverse cultures that represent who we are as a community at Boeckman Creek.
Last year we had over 40 different countries and cultures represented!
As in years past, our theme centers on students and families “traveling” from country to country via Boeckman Creek Airlines. Students and families attending International Night are given a “passport” that they can get stamped at each of the countries they visit.
Once again, we are inviting families new and old to International Night, to host a table representing your family’s heritage/country. You can decorate and organize your table in any way you wish. We will provide a table (6 foot), flag, passports, and a stamp to represent your country.
Some things you might want to include at your table are:
· Any photographs, clothing, music or items to represent your country/culture
· Food for families to sample that is inspired by a family recipe
· A small cultural art or craft project that represents your family’s history and heritage
· A poster with a few words in your heritage language
· You are invited to wear traditional dress representing your heritage/country
If you are interested in participating or have any questions, you can contact Sandi Laschober in the school office at (503) 673-7750, email Sandi at laschobs@wlwv.k12.or.us or contact Brook Lee, International Night Committee Chairperson at BCPSInternationalNight@gmail.com
We are looking forward to another fun and exciting International Night!
Our Lost and Found is overflowing! Please come claim lost student coats, lunch boxes, sweatshirts and other items. We will be donating all unclaimed items prior to Spring Break.

Provide Input at the Upcoming District Community Forum or Through Our Student Success Act Online Survey
Please help provide the district with pivotal feedback by attending Part Two of our Student Success Act Community Forum. The public forum will be held on Thursday, March 12, beginning at 6 p.m. at the District Office; 22210 SW Stafford Road, Tualatin.
In November, the West Linn-Wilsonville community provided crucial feedback to help the district make improvements that reduce academic disparities and meet students' mental or behavioral health needs. That input shaped the district's Continuous Improvement Plan, which was submitted to the Oregon Department of Education and approved in December.
The West Linn-Wilsonville School District is now eligible to apply for and receive approximately $7.6 million in grant funds. As part of that application, the district requires additional community input.
Community members can provide feedback through an online survey if they are unable to attend the March 12 Community Forum.
For an overview of the district's Student Success Act progress, and how this feedback will help the district prepare its Student Investment Account Grant Application, please watch the following informational webinar.
For additional information about the Student Success Act, please visit the district website.

District, First Student Bus Company Launch FirstView Bus Tracking App
In partnership with First Student, the district is launching FirstView, a bus tracking, and parent communication app for your smartphone or desktop. The app can provide additional information for parents and students, including the general location and direction of individual buses as well as timestamps for school arrivals and departures.
The app also allows students and parents to set up push or email notifications that alert when a is bus close. While the district is launching this app, please understand that it is a new system for the district and for First Student. It uses sophisticated technology that depends on many components to function. Parent feedback is helpful as First Student continues to fine-tune and improve this resource.
To learn more about the FirstView App, including how to download and use this resource, please visit the district website.
Help Us Honor Wilsonville “Helpers” By Nominating Individuals for Wilsonville Community Portrait Project
Student artists throughout Wilsonville schools will spend the next few months helping to create a community-wide art project that honors standout “helpers” across the Wilsonville community. This major project was initiated by the Wilsonville Arts and Culture Council, the Planning Committee of the Wilsonville Festival of Arts, and the fine art programs in Wilsonville schools.
