From the Principal's Desk...
“Peace be with you.”
Dear Parents and Guardians,
I want to thank you for your amazing support, encouragement and prayers during these past months. I also want to thank you for expressing your concerns. I believe that we continued to honestly work at getting better. Many of you raised issues which needed to be addressed.
We are nearly finished with collecting books and returning your daughters and sons items which were left behind when the building was closed. Our faculty and staff have been working these last few days to help make this process go smoothly.
Last week, after extensive review and consultation, Fr. Kyle, Fr. Pete and I, in conversation with our school board, decided to have an in person graduation for our 8th grade students. This graduation will be held on Monday, June 15, 2020 at 7:00 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Church. The Mass, ceremony and attendance are very limited and structured to keep everyone as safe as possible. Please pray for our graduates and their families.
This coming Sunday, as churches everywhere begin to reopen, the Church celebrates the Feast of Pentecost. It is interesting that the disciples are locked in an upper room (the first century version of “shelter in place.”). They are afraid of what is going on in the world around them, and they fear for their lives. The Resurrected Jesus appears to them coming through the locked door. This Sunday’s Gospel reminds us, “Jesus came and stood in their midst and said to them, “Peace be with you.” (JN 20:19-23)
We have all been through a great deal together this school year. We, like the disciples, have had our moments of fear and doubt. As you begin your summer break, may you hear and recognize the Resurrected Jesus who is always with us when He says to you, “Peace be with you.”
Have a wonderful, safe and restful summer.
Peace,
Dan Minelli

Girl Scout Online Enrichment Programs
Girl Scouts of Western Ohio are continuing to offer virtual enrichment with two free online activities each day for girls of all ages and their families.
As we head into the summer months, they are striving to keep girls’ skills strong by continuing their virtual enrichment—with a special focus on girls who are entering kindergarten this fall. From now through July 31, they are offering “Lift-off to Kindergarten,” a series of fun activities to help Pre-K girls get excited about school, as well as tips for parents and caregivers.
For families of Pre-K girls: www.gswo.org/liftoff (special activities to prepare for school)
They also have a Facebook page that parents can join to engage their soon to be Kindergartener in Girl Scout Activities: https://www.facebook.com/groups/DaisyLaunch/
If you have any questions, please contact Kristen Woods, the Community Development Manager for St. John's service unit at kristenwoods@gswo.org.
