Mayo Elementary
December 2022 News
It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year
December is a joyous month in an elementary school. The colder temperatures bring the excitement and anticipation of the holiday season for both students and staff alike! As I visit classrooms and travel throughout the building, I see students that are respectful, responsible, and ready to learn each and every day, truly exemplifying our Mayo Mallard behavior expectations.
As we turn the page on 2022, I cherish the gift of working with your students and the entire Mayo Elementary community. I look forward to all we will accomplish in 2023!
Season's Greetings,
Mrs. Fox, Principal

Toys, Electronics & Trading Cards in School
With the holidays just around the corner children will be receiving new and exciting toys that they will want to show their friends. Please note the following policies from the Mayo Parent Handbook: "Students should not bring toys, electronics, or unusual items to school unless coordinated with a teacher for a specific purpose. Trading cards are also prohibited."
Additionally, "Cell phones and Smart Watches that function as a cell phone/camera are not necessary in a student's instructional day and should be kept turned off and in the student’s locker during the school day."
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
Next Watch DOGS Signup coming soon...
Hello Mayo Families!
We have exciting news and updates about our 2nd Semester Watch DOGS program! The link for sign up will be coming out on December 19th at 8:00 am. In an effort to improve the availability of accessing the link, it will be sent through a connect ed email, posted to the Mayo PTO website, and available on the Mayo PTO Facebook page! We hope this helps!
A few reminders- Dads who participated in the 1st semester should not sign up again. 2nd Semester should be for new dads only. As we have done in the past, 5th grade families will be sent the link at 7:50am. We like to do this as it may be their last time to participate before their student moves on to middle school. The link will be available to the rest of our Mayo families at 8:00 am. A NEW addition is that we will have three half day afternoon only spots. These dates will be on our MCAP testing days for our intermediate students. This allows us to have more dads participate but to come in once testing is done.
We will have 41 sign up spots available for our 2nd semester and are so excited to continue this amazing program! Any questions, please reach out to Laura Ward- laward@aacps.org. And set those alarms for December 19th at 8:00 am!
