Mission Statement

It is the mission of Greenbrier Middle School to empower students to be successful, productive leaders in society. We are devoted to an engaging and rigorous curriculum, a safe and student-centered environment, and innovative teaching and learning that is built on stakeholder collaboration to educate the whole child.

GMS Theme: BE THE ONE

GMS staff was spoiled this past week by the Greenbrier Church of the Nazarene. We are so blessed to have them partner with us this year to BE THE ONE for our students! We appreciate your support more than you know! We also want to thank the Nazarene Church and Bleacher Bling for sponsoring our staff pullovers. Thanks for all you do for our staff and students! #BetheOne

Tectonic Plates

GMS students are still hard at work! Mrs. Lowry's science students used graham crackers, wafer cookies, and cool whip to model how convection currents drive the movement of Earth's rigid tectonic plates. Students used the sweet treats to mimic the movements of the three main types of tectonic plate boundaries (convergent, divergent, and transform) as well as sea floor spreading and plate subduction.

GMS Teacher of the Year-Mr. Josh Lyra

This week we were able to celebrate our teacher of the year during the 2nd Annual GMS Olympics Closing Ceremony! Congratulations to our 21-22 GMS Teacher of the year, Mr. JOSH LYRA! Mr. Lyra works hard to teach, serve, and build relationships with our students and his peers! He creates authentic learning experiences for his students, models and practices effective classroom management strategies and positive behavior interventions, helps to lead restorative practices with students, created UNCOMMEN MEN guys group focusing on teaching boys what it means to be a gentleman, leads the golf squared club, tutors students often in the mornings and during his planning period, and is one of the starts of our GMS TikTok Friday after school teacher tradition.

RISE Newsletter

The May RISE Newsletter is HERE!

May is National Mental Health Awareness Month and our MAY RISE Newsletter investigates the connection between mental well-being and reading. This month’s newsletter includes parent resources about resiliency, self-regulation, and more.

GMS adjusted our lunch schedule and Fast Focus intervention times, adding more time to your lunches (from 25 minutes to 30 minutes), and allowing all students to participate in our Fast Focus Intervention at the same time. We are excited to make this change as we believe this shared building-wide intervention will greatly increase our ability to meet our students’ academic and social/ emotional needs. Students will be able to be pulled to different classes more frequently based on intervention, enrichment, and social needs regardless of which lunch they are assigned. We will be discussing this with you in more detail in the upcoming days.

Assigned student lunches will be based on who you have for 4th period. Below you will find the schedule and the list of teachers divided by A and B lunches. Determine your 4th period teacher and then see if they are on the A or B lunch list. Whichever list they are on, will also be your lunch and 4th period schedule. For example, if you have Mrs. Jutze, she is on the B list meaning you will have 4th period at 10:35-11:20 and then lunch at 11:20-11:50. If you have Coach Ellison, he is on the A list meaning you will have lunch at 10:30-11:00 and then 4th period at 11:05-11:50. Check it out below and let us know if you have any questions!

BUS NOTES

If students are to ride a different bus home than normal, they MUST bring a note and have it signed by the office. The student will then give it to the bus driver. If a student does not have the note signed by the office, the bus driver will not allow the student to ride home to a different location.

PTO Contact Information

If you would like to volunteer at GMS and need information, please feel free to send an email to PTOgreenbrierms@gmail.com.

Morning Information

  • To help things flow as quickly as possible at our car rider line, we ask that you let your child know which line you will be using so that they can be standing on that side of the pick up line. This will especially be important in bad weather when students will not be able to be standing outside.
  • Drop off begins at 7:30 a.m. and pick up will begin at 3:20 p.m. Please remember to pull up as close as possible to the car in front of you. This allows us to load several students at one time.
  • Tardy Bell rings at 7:50 when instruction begins for the day.
  • We encourage you to still come eat lunch with your child. However, this year you will have to eat at one of the outside seating areas. Parents will not be able to enter the cafeteria due to safety guidelines.

Drop Off and Pick Up Routes for Middle School and Jr. High

Just a reminder to be patient with us the first day of car rider line. Please remember that middle school has two lines for car riders. The right lane will turn towards Hwy 65 at the Panther head and exit to Hwy 65. The left lane will turn left at the Panther head and merge in with Jr. High car rider line and exit back on to Hwy. 25.
