Link Together Coalition
Dear Parents,
Have you seen our signs by the main entrance?
At TMS we work with our partners at the LINK Together Coalition to promote the "Talk. They Hear You" campaign. SAMHSA is a national campaign that empowers and reminds parents to talk to children about the dangers of underage drinking.
Research shows that parents are the leading influence on their child's decisions about alcohol, however, 41% of Wheeling Township teens say their parents have "not talked to them" or they "do not remember having a conversation" about not using alcohol.* Although it may not seem like it, when parents talk about underage drinking, their children do hear them.
The goal of the "Talk They Hear You" campaign is to:
* Increase parents' awareness of the prevalence and risk of underage drinking
* Equip parents with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to prevent underage drinking
* Share information on the 2018 Wheeling Township Illinois Youth Survey results
* Increase parents' actions to prevent underage drinking
Starting the conversation can be challenging! Click here for an interactive tool that can help you get started.
We hope you will find these resources helpful!

ATTENDANCE & TARDY
At the end of each quarter, we will also send home a letter notifying parents of students who have missed more than 5% of the school year or have been tardy for more than 5% of the school year.
"By as early as sixth grade, high truancy rates become a distinct predictor of whether or not a student will graduate from high school."
For this reason, we think it is critical to notify all families that attending school and attending on time is critical to your child's success.
TMS Club Information
If your child does not see a club they are interested in or they want to consider starting a new club please have them talk with their homeroom teacher about completing a NEW CLUB PROPOSAL form.
Absent & Upcoming Absences? Want to request homework?
You will no longer need to call the office to request work that has been missed. Instead, you can stay up-to-date by logging into Schoology. We do not expect your child to complete the work while they are absent because we anticipate they are sick and that is the reason they are home. When they are feeling better and ready to begin making up the work it will be available on Schoology. If you are not confident that the work is available on Schoology please email the teacher directly to inquire about what homework specifically needs to be made up.
Thank you!
